The Oakland Rotary Satellite Club, operating in partnership with the Oakland Rotary, will kick off its 3rd Annual Sock Drive on January 20th. Drop off new children’s socks at the following locations through February 20th: any Elementary or Middle School in Garrett County, the Board of Education, the Health Department, any branch of First United Bank, Trader’s Coffee Shop, The American Legion, Jazzercise in Oakland, Winner’s Circle and Ruth Enlow Library in Oakland. The donations will go to Garrett County elementary and middle school children in need during the cold winter months.
The Satellite club supports service projects in the community while also helping with the Rotary Christmas Project and of course french fry trailer sales. We welcome new members and hold monthly meetings usually on the third Thursday of the month at 5:30pm. If your organization has a need for volunteers, and you think the Satellite club could help, or you’d like to join Rotary Satellite please contact Haley Gillespie, Rotary Satellite President, at hvgillespie@gmail.com.
