Randy French, who recently returned from a trip to Antarctica with National Geographic/Lindblad Expeditions, is scheduled to give a presentation as part of the Adventure Sports Colloquium Series on Tuesday, February 21 at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium at the McHenry campus of Garrett College. The colloquium series is part of a course for students enrolled in the Adventure Sports program. The general public is invited and welcome to attend the presentation. His presentation, Antarctic Exploration, will feature stories, pictures and videos from French’s trip to the Great White continent. Not only will he talk about penguins, ice, seals and whales, he will explain how this adventure fits into over 40 years of adventures on many continents and many places near and far. French currently resides in upstate New York and is a science professor at Geneseo Central School. He has taken students from Geneseo Central School to Nicaragua, Yellowstone National Park, and more to help them understand about the magic that exists in the world. He also started an outdoor adventure company 34 years ago that he still operates trips for, such as: trekking in Nepal, skiing in South America, and kayaking in Croatia. He will explain how his life of adventures has evolved from a young man’s dream with his twin brother to pack rafting above the arctic circle with his son last summer. It is his hope that by sharing where he has been and the places he has traveled to from his experiences will inspire others to create their own adventures and follow their dreams.
