Learn the basics of decorating cupcakes. Discover new and fun ways to decorate cupcakes, and techniques for creating swirl tops with icing as seen on many cupcakes. Learn how to prepare the decorating bags, how to fill cupcakes, how to ice the cupcakes with a spatula and a star tip, pull-out stars, dots, lines, rosettes, and leaves. Students need to bring one dozen, baked, unfrosted cupcakes to class along with the following items: toothpicks, water bottle, paper towels, tape, spatula, container to transport cupcakes home, three- one gallon-size plastic bags, small container for icing, six disposable cups, apron, bath towel, scissors, small brown lunch bag, reusable disposable cloths, and wax paper. Frosting and decorating kit will be provided. The course is being instructed by Wilton instructor, Bonnie Goebel, and offered through Continuing Education and Workforce Development at Garrett College.
