Pick of the Litter Ribbon Cutting

HART for Animal's Executive Director, Paula Yudelevit and Facilities Manager Ken Bush, hold the ribbon, as Development Director, Mercedes Pellet, and HART Presdient, Michael Pellet, cut the ribbon that officially opened "Pick of the Litter" Thrift Shop on Friday, April 12, 2013 in McHenry.  Community leaders, volunteers and friends of HART were treated to a light lunch and a cake sporting the "Pick of the Litter" logo.  Proceeds from sales in the thrift shop benefit HART's fundraising goals.  "Pick of the Litter" Thrift Shop is adjacent to the HART Spay/Neuter Clinic and carries housewares, fashion and home accessories, gifts, furniture, pet items, and more.  Hours of operation are Fridays, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sundays, Noon - 5 p.m.  Donated items may be dropped off during shop hours.  For more information on donation or volunteering, please call 240-442-5370 or visit www.hartforanimals.org.




HART to Open "Pick of The Litter" Thrift Shop

HART for Animals will be opening a new thrift shop at McHenry Plaza on Friday, April 12, as part of their ongoing fundraising goals.  "Pick of the Litter" Thrift Shop will be adjacent to the HART Spay/Neuter Clinic and will carry housewares, fashion and home accessories, gifts, furniture, pet items, and more.  HART volunteers will staff the retail store.

 

"The money raised at the thrift shop will provide much-needed funds to HART to continue to fulfill our mission of helping save the lives of homeless animals in Garrett County," says Michael Pellet, President of HART.  "It will also help us purchase the much-needed equipment and supplies for the new adoption center."

The thrift shop is in search of household items, knick-knacks, home accessories, small appliances, fashion accessories, jewelry, garden items, Christmas ornaments, baby items, pet toys and accessories, and other items other than clothing.  Volunteers will be accepting donations April 1 through 6, from 10 am to 5 pm, at the thrift shop location.  Donations will also be accepted during store hours beginning April 12.

"Pick of the Litter" Thrift Shop hours of operation are Fridays, Noon to 8pm, Saturdays 10 am to 5 pm, and Sundays Noon to 5 pm.

Susquehanna Bank Hires Tracy S. Bemiller As Commercial Relationship Manager

Susquehanna Bank is pleased to announce that Tracy S. Bemiller has joined the company as Commercial Relationship Manager.

 

He is responsible for growing and serving the region's commercial and business relationships and will be based at Susquehanna's office at 71 Baltimore St., Cumberland, Maryland.

 

Bemiller previously worked as Senior Lending Officer at First United Bank & Trust and has 24 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry.

 

A resident of Mountain Lake Park, Garrett County, Maryland, Bemiller is a member of the Oakland Rotary, Tri County Council and the Garrett Development Corporation.

 

Bemiller graduated from Mount Saint Mary's College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Master of Business Administration and Master of Finance Degrees from Loyola University in Maryland.

Annie's Kitchen Participates in Healthy Restaurant Project

Annie's Kitchen of Accident, MD was identified as a restaurant serving heart healthy meals by the Garrett County Health Department through the Healthy Restaurant Project. 

 

The Garrett County Health Department through a grant from the MD Community Health Resource Commission has created the Healthy Restaurant Project.  The goal of the project is to help customers identify menu items that will support their efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle through their food choices.  Participating restaurants like Annie's Kitchen have been provided with menu inserts by the Garrett County Health Department that identifies heart healthy menu items.  The inserts also suggest heart healthy tips for any meal.

 

Annie's Kitchen is located at 414 South Main Street in Accident, MD and is known for their high quality food using the freshest ingredients possible.  Good old fashion food where breakfast is served all day.




Shentel Ribbon Cutting

Shentel is proud to invite you to a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for their new office located at 13148 Garrett Highway, Oakland, MD.  Please join them between 11 and 2 for a light lunch and to visit with members of Shentel team.  The ribbon-cutting will take place at 12:20 p.m. 

On Saturday, Dec. 8, Shentel will be hosting the public with an Open House that includes pictures with Santa and his horse and sleigh, live Victorian carolers, chestnuts roasting, apple cider and cookies. This will take place 11 a.m to 3 p.m.
