Garrett College Continuing Education and Workforce Development has scheduled a hands-on course cake decorating course Cake Decorating I - Building Buttercream Skills. The course will be held on Wednesdays, September 7 to 28, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Garrett College Northern Outreach Center located in Grantsville. Experienced Wilton cake decorator and instructor, Bonnie Goebel, will guide students through this fun cake decoration class for beginners. Get in touch with your creative side and you can make beautiful, custom designed cakes that look and taste amazing. Instruction is given in the basics of cake decorating: how to bake a great cake, icing ingredients, preparing and filling the decorating bags, different decorating and texturing tips, piping gel pattern transfer, sunflower, zinnia, daisy, star, rosette, wavy line, loops, filling cupcakes, torting leveling, pulled dot, zigzag, easy ruffle, shell, bead border, leaves, grass, star drop flower, writing and printing, ribbon rose. The first lesson will be decorating cookies, the second and fourth lesson will consist of decorating a cake, while the third lesson will focus on filing and decorating cupcakes. A supply list will be provided upon registration.
